The AI system color-coded critical anatomy, including nerves and blood vessels, while the surgical team worked near an 11-millimeter pituitary tumor. The patient, Rhys Hibbert, had been facing serious vision problems and recovered his sight after the procedure.
The system did not replace the surgeons. It acted as an additional layer of visual guidance: another set of analytical eyes in a procedure where a millimeter can matter.

The Model Hardware Standard
Anthropic opened a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard, or MHS, a model-agnostic specification that lets AI assistants safely interact with programmable scientific and manufacturing equipment.
The MHS announcement describes a standardized interface for microscopes, liquid handlers, robotic arms, cameras, and other devices. Instead of building a custom translator for every machine, developers can use common “read” and “write” commands.
That could reduce hardware integration from weeks or months to hours.
QuEra used MHS to let Claude autonomously improve a quantum-computer laser recovery process. The resulting system reportedly restored the laser lock successfully in 99.3% of 700 trials, compared with an earlier success rate of about 58%.

In remarks at the Jackson Hole economic symposium, the Federal Reserve chair emphasized that inflation remains well above the central bank’s 2% target and signaled that additional rate increases remain possible if underlying price pressure does not move clearly toward that goal.

My fiscally conservative view is simple: stable money matters. Inflation quietly reduces purchasing power, complicates wage decisions, raises borrowing costs, and makes long-term planning harder for families and businesses.
